Day #6

Read Genesis 1: 24-31

 Here we are on the sixth day. GOD creates animals, bugs, things that creep on the ground. At the end of this creation process the statement follows, ‘and God saw it was good.’ The next thing GOD did was to create man in God’s own image male and female he created them, then the ‘good’ statement follows again. God then tells Man (Male and female) be fruitful and multiply fill the earth and subdue it, but there is more to it and we will get to that shortly. Next, they are told what everything that was just created will have available to them for food. This part of the day ends with God seeing that everything that was made and indeed it was very good. Let us flesh this day out a little further, notice first that GOD tells the earth to bring forth the living creatures. Animals and bugs, anyone these are complex and wonderfully made (yeah, I can guess what you’re thinking about the bugs). Each one interesting, wondrous, and thought provoking from the lowly ant to the enormous elephant. All of these have an incredible an unfathomable amount of complex thought and design incorporated into them. Next there is man, meaning male and female. They were formed by and created in, the image of the creator. Chapter two will go more into the nuts and bolts of this, but simply put Man was formed out of the dust of the ground, this was a potter and the clay moment; for lack of a better word picture a hands-on process. Here are some other interesting things of note, unlike the birds of the air and the fish of the sea God did not pronounce his blessing of multiply and fill to the living creatures and the cattle and the things that creep on the earth, why? Thoughts later concerning this part of it. God does however make that pronouncement over Man (male and female) plus both are given dominion, to rule and have authority on earth under God, over the fish, birds and all living creatures. Man and Woman were given the authority and responsibility to be the Prince and Princess of this world, under GOD. The last thing of note is in regard to the food, Man and animals were created in the beginning to eat only herbs that yields seed and specifically to Man also every tree whose fruit yields seed. So, there were no carnivores, no meat eaters, it was fruit, veggies and herbs all the way.

Take away from this day is we have amazing animals and interesting creepy crawlies, if that’s your thing and Mankind, male and female, created in the image of GOD. This will speak better to our understanding of the who of GOD, but our understanding will be finite, it's only as GOD chooses to reveal things through the Holy Spirit, that the big picture starts to get clearer. The book of Psalms puts it this way, Psalm 139:14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it.
