Genesis Chapter 9

After the boat ride we are along way from the Edenic vision God had intended for us and the command to multiply and spread it over all the earth. With Noah and his family, God again blesses Noah and his sons and tells them to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. Noah has built an alter to God and offered up burnt offerings to the Lord from some of the animals. The Lord tells them all the animals shall be afraid of them everything that creeps on the ground, birds, and fish. Animals will be for food now as well as herbs, we have gone from caretakers to carnivores, from dominion to death. God promises a covenant, an agreement with them and every living creature not to flood the earth again. When the rainbow is in the clouds it will serve as a reminder of the covenant that has been made. Before we go any further, we must look at what was also carried over from the old world to the new by boat. Their influence and knowledge that was given by the watchers did not completely disappear when they did nor did their infection or attempt to make the whole of mankind a mixed, unclean, not of God mixture of them and us. The unseen enemy, the adversary is not finished, but how do you bring back the Nephilim? In Genesis nine Noah became a farmer, he worked the ground, he also grew grapes and made wine. There is nothing wrong with that,  and it says that he was drunk in his tent. There was no command about being drunk in your own tent or house. It says that Ham the father of Canaan saw the nakedness of his father. The nakedness of a man is his wife, and the nakedness of the wife is her husband. (Leviticus 18:8) Ham attempted to usurp Noah’s authority by sleeping with his wife. We will see this done in other places in scripture, when Absalom sleeps with David his father’s concubines to prove his authority, when Jacob sleeps with his father’s concubine. Noah was a man unblemished, pure in his generation, but not his wife, but because of the mix their sons, would be less of this mixed breed, but because of Ham actions two impure mixtures would bring about the return of a Nephilim type of mixture. Notice Noah would curse Canaan not Ham, Canaan is the result of this ungodly mixture, no different then what the fallen sons of God had done. The giant clans would come from this union they would be called the Rephaim and the Anakin. Later on Israel was tasked with eliminating them and a giant by the name of Goliath who was dispatched by young shepherd that would become King, David. Even though this looks incredibly messed up, God’s plan will not be thwarted, by adversarial Sons of God or sons of Adam. Last note in all this that cannot be overlooked or go unmentioned, is Noah’s wife was raped, it cannot be overstated enough, there is no excuse ever, by anyone for rape, period. In the Garden Adam was supposed to care, love, and protect the woman, she was his own flesh and blood after all, and he failed. We have a poor historical track record for protecting and caring for woman of all ages, regardless of ethnicity this must change, with GOD's help we must be a positive force of change starting today.
