Exodus Conclusion
Exodus
chapters 35 – 40
-
Much
has already been written on the tabernacle, furnishings, the Ark of
the covenant, the priestly garments etc., by people far more scholarly and knowledgeable
than me.
-
One
thing I would like to delve a little deeper into is the office of the High Priest
and the Heavenly version of the tabernacle.
-
When
GOD had called Moses from the burning bush it was supposed to be his job alone
with GOD’s help and power, but because of Moses’ unbelief his brother Arron was added to
the mix.
- So, one thought is, was Moses supposed to be in the
role of leader and high priest as another earthly example of the priesthood
of Melchizedek?
- Moses was the one that interceded for the people, received
the Law, was the one GOD would talk to, as a friend talks to a friend, at the
tent of meeting outside the camp before the tabernacle was built. Moses did all
this and more, not Aaron.
- Before Moses was called, while he still was in Egypt,
he killed an Egyptian, could you say he was a murderer (from the beginning)?
- Arron who would be given the office of the High Priest, take a minute to read again what Moses asks Aaron upon returning to the camp and seeing the Golden calf. Chapter 32: 21-22
- Arron said the people were evil and he gave them exactly
what they asked for. Aaron who helped lead his people out of bondage in Egypt, who saw GOD’s power firsthand, was commissioned as the mouthpiece of GOD for Moses to Pharaoh.
- Aaron did not take any responsibility for this but laid it squarely at the feet of his own flesh and blood. (The Israelites)
-
Does this
not ring of Eden?
-
These two offices, Leader and High Priest, had both a murderer and one who would help
enable the people under his authority to worship gods that were not the one
true GOD.
-
Does
that sound vaguely familiar?
- In the book of Jude in verses 8 – 9 referring to people who reject authority and speak evil of those in GOD given authority. Notice Jude wrote that the archangel Michael, contending with “the adversary” (Devil) did not dare bring an accusation against this son of GOD, but simply said “The Lord rebuke you.” Why did he want the body of Moses? If Michael was over him in authority, why not use that authority to exact a reason for the request? Who held the higher authority? Dunno
-
We are
told in the book of Hebrews 2:14 that the Devil had the power of Death (separation,
putting people out of GOD’s camp, presence, and sacred space)
-
Lastly
Hebrews 9:23 tells us the blood of Jesus purified the real tabernacle in
heaven. How was that one polluted? Did some thing happen to the heavenly version?
- Jesus is now filling both roles as the perfect Melchizedek, King and High
priest in heaven.
