People are dying to hear about Saul 2 Samuel Chapter 1 - David hears about King Saul and Johnathan, David’s best friend from a young Amalekite man. He was hoping David was going to reward him for the this bit of good news thinking that Saul was David’s enemy. - The young man told David that he just happened to be on Mount Gilboa and saw Saul leaning on his spear, Saul called out to the young man and asked him to finish him off because he was almost dead and didn’t want to be captured and tortured by the Philistines. We know from 1 Samuel chapter 31 this is not what had happened, but David was not aware of the truth at this point. The one thing that was true was the young man robbed the bodies because he had Saul crown and armband to try and convince David of his story. Mercy and a wise Woman 1 Samuel 24 - Saul gets intel that David is hiding out in the Desert of En Gedi and once there Saul finds a cave and goes in to relieve himself. It just so happens that David and his men were hiding in that very cave (coincidentally) and David was given the opportunity to be rid of Saul. His men even went so far as to urge David to kill him because the LORD had delivered Saul into David’s hand. - David decided to only cut a corner off of Saul’s robe, to show Saul he had the opportunity, but even in this plan David felt guilty afterwards because he had done such a thing to the LORD’s anointed. He forbid his men from attacking Saul and allowed him to leave unharmed. - David goes on to tell Saul what has happened and how he spared his life and would not touch the LORD’s anointed. David tell Saul, may the LORD avenge the wrongs Saul has done to him, but he would not touch Saul. - Next David quotes a proverb of the ancients, “Out of the wicked comes wickedness.”...

A Small Medium at Large 1 Samuel 28 - The first part of the chapter we see that David has gained the trust of the Philistine King Achish, even to the point of making David a body guard for life. Although he may well have done this just to keep a close eye on David. - At this point in time the author reminds us that Samuel was dead and Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the land. My first thought in this statement is why? Why did Saul do this and what was his motivation? The obvious answer would be to quote “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:31 I don’t believe Saul all of a sudden started inquiring about the laws and promises of GOD that he was required to follow and help enforce. Deuteronomy 17: 18-20 tell us that - When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. It is to be with...
