He Who Laughs Last...

Not Violent, Much?

Not Violent, Much?

Psalm 17

A Psalm where David is confident in :
- his prayer
- his heart
- his lips
- that he is not violent
- he remains on the path GOD has for him.
- he's confident GOD hears and will answer.
- GOD is David's saviour.

Thoughts on the man :

- David was a warrior and shed alot of blood. He was not allowed to build the temple. 1 chronicles 22:8

- David had an affair with one of his soldier's wives and then had him killed to cover up the pregnancy.

- David sat by and did nothing when one of his own daughters was raped.
2 Sam 13:12-14

- David had very poor relationships with some of his own children. 2 Samuel 14:24

- He took more wives then GOD's word explicitly talked about concerning the kings of Israel. Deut 17:17

- David was described as a man after GOD's own heart. Despite David's many failures and sins he consistently sought GOD's will and offered repentance when he failed.

- Verse seven talks about GOD's steadfast love and he is also our Saviour and refuge from the adversary.

- In verse fifteen David knew he would look upon the face of GOD and be satisfied with "your likeness". Would David eventually get to see what John saw in Revelation 1:12-16? Jesus in all his glory.

My prayer is that we would seek after GOD with a heart like David's, with consistency and repentance. David's sins and failures didn't stop GOD from loving him or hearing his prayers. Jesus paid for his debt and ours, completely on the cross and one day we will be able to look on his face.
