He Who Laughs Last...

Lookout, Your Surrounded!

Lookout, Your Surrounded!

Psalm 32

1 A Maskil of David.
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried upfn as by the heat of summer. Selah
5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
6 Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him.
7 You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.
10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD.
11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Thoughts:

- Jesus' work on the cross has blessed us beyond imagination and yet some people walked past that and still give GOD the "Middle Finger".

- David describes to us the condition of sinful man when thier in rebellion to GOD. Keep in mind he is a King, he has power, wealth, multiple partners (wives), he has a palace, cooks, banquets, servants, etc. He literally has it all. Yet he tells us his body is wasting away through constant groaning all day, everyday. David should have been happy and content considering all he had and who he is, but he's not. Having it all and not GOD is literally all for naught.

- David feels like GOD's hand is heavy upon him. People in rebellion also feel that heavy hand. That's why they have such a hate towards something they say doesn’t exist or if he does they want nothing to do with a god that won't let them live anyway they choose and rubber stamp all of thier desires. In thier mind he's unloving and hateful not to give them what they want. He's created them in the wrong, body, given them the wrong parents, melanin, country, gov't, diseases, allowing evil (that other humans did in rebellion as something that they think will make them happy) pick your reason for hating what "god" has done. If you pick the one that says that - why did he even make us to begin with? This isn't our argument, this disapproval of what GOD has created is owned lock stock and barrel by the Devil. He wants you to not exist period! In his mind you have no right to life and if people echo this they are just agreeing with the one who truly hates people. The Devil wants to un-alive us before we can know GOD.

- the irony in all of this is that GOD's hand upon us and the weight we feel is our own perception of the matter. It's heavy and not wanted when we are in rebellion and comforting and desired when we are in fellowship with our Heavenly Father.

- when we like David acknowledge our sin and not try to hid it or justify it. When we confess it GOD doesnt say let me think on it for a while or no this is too much, too many, too rebellious. He says to David and to us "you are forgiven." Luke 23:34 ESV — And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.

- David reminds the godly to offer prayers while he may be found because there is coming a time when GOD says enough and the great day of the LORD will come, judgement day and his free gift will no longer be available.

- verse seven when GOD delivers someone from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light it is not a quiet transition there are shouts of joy just like story Jesus told of the prodigal son. - Luke 15:24 ESV — For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. - When's the last time you celebrated quietly something of major importance?

- Our heavenly Father wants to instruct and teach us. To give us council and let us know he's watching over us as a loving parent watches over thier child. You are not alone.

- a horse or mule without bit or bridle will wander wherever they want to go. Given the chance and not understanding we wander away when we should stick close to the LORD. That's why David sings the wicked have many sorrows, but the one that trusts the LORD stays close to him and the LORD's love surrounds them.

- finally our response to being protected, taught, counciled, and surrounded by love should give us reasons to shout and rejoice and be joyful. Simple put get excited for what he has done and is doing in your life.

- my prayer, that you would know and remember daily that GOD wants to surround you with love. He wants to protect, teach and counsel you to stay close and be joyful. I pray your excitement in this knowledge is evident to everyone.
