Exodus Chapters 21 – 23

- Exodus chapters 21-23 deals with what-ifs. If the Israelites are indeed following the 10 laws, then these things should not be an issue. GOD sees the heart of people and knows that if they can find a loophole or grey area they will. He teaches Moses, who will in turn teach others how to judge these situations when they arise. If you look through some of these what-ifs with the lens of the ten and love for GOD and other people, these shouldn't be issues to begin with.

Exodus 21 examples

- if you have a servant(s) people who work for them, remember you were slaves in Egypt, remember your treatment and treat them better, like family.

- love and protect your family, that should be obvious, but it is not.

- If you do not treat your dad and mom with respect there is consequences, deadly consequences.

These are just a few of the things mentioned over the three chapters of instructions. Interestingly, GOD knew these things would happen.

Foreknowledge doesn't necessitate predestination, why? GOD's teaching to the people through Moses, would be all the things this people would eventually end up doing. We read about it happening over and over, even before the people get to the promised land and after they are living there. They follow other god's, kill Israelite brothers and sisters, commit adultery, steal, abuse workers and family and on and on it goes.

Foreknowledge in the book Judges 1 Samuel 23: 5-13

David asks GOD two questions, will Saul come down to the city where he and his men were staying and would the men of that city hand him and his people over to Saul.

- GOD tells him yes on both counts, GOD foreknows this would happen, so David armed with this information flees the city and Saul hears and does not go to the city.

- Did you catch that? GOD foreknows two things that did not happen. Saul did not go down and the men of that city did not surrender David and his men to Saul.

-  For knowledge does not equal predestination.

- Back at Sinai (Exodus), GOD is giving them the foreknowledge to flee these situations, armed with the Ten and their trust in the one giving the information. Their situation and ours only changes when you use the information you now have. Unfortunately, their history is now our instructions of what happens when you do not trust the one who loves you immensely more that you could ever think or imagine and wants to give you a hope and a future through Jesus. Your future is not predestined it can change for your GOoD.

Next - Tent, Tablets and Turmoil

I would like to thank Dr. Michael Heiser for sharing the piece about foreknowledge and predestination ideas. He has said that "he hasn't had an original thought" and I apply this to myself as well. Thank you Holy Spirit you alone are the author of the 'original thought'.
