A Prayer Life Like David's?

The Devine Council Chambers

The Devine Council Chambers

-      I’m going to take a short detour into the Spiritual realm to better understand this spiritual battle, GOD against the gods. The Israelites were first given the task by GOD to reclaim the nations that had been disinherited at the Babble event and placed under the authority of children of GOD. The Israelites were to rescue the people out of the nations like GOD rescued them out of their bondage in Egypt.

-      This eventually becomes the mandate of any child of GOD who are part of the family of GOD, to go into all the World. Matthew 28:19

-      GOD is in the business of family and recovering lost people, not lost Nations, Countries, or geographical areas. This is not a conquest of land; this is a reclamation of people that happen to be in areas that were and are controlled by hostile spiritual forces.

-       Paul in the book of Ephesians 6:12 writes for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood (people), but evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

-      There are several places in scripture where we get a glimpse of this Devine council and the workings and interactions that take place therein. The first one we will look at is Psalm 82

-      I would like to mentioned before we go further that my thoughts in this are not original, and I could give thanks to Dr. Mike Heizer for his thoughts on this subject although he has also said these are not his original thoughts either, so I’d like to thank the Holy Spirit and give credit where credit is properly due.

-      In Psalm 82 GOD (Elohim, singular) takes his place in the divine council in the midst of the gods (Elohim, plural) he holds judgement.

-      GOD is not pleased, they have not given justice to the fatherless, nor have they maintained the right of the afflicted and the destitute. They have not rescued the weak, the needy or delivered those from the hand of the wicked.

-      GOD calls them Elohim and children of the Most high, but like men they will die.

-       There is a view taken here by some that the ones spoken of here are either earthly judges or Israelite leaders of the twelve tribes. The problem with that line of thinking is no earthly leader or judge is ever referred to as an Elohim. Men do die that is a given, but these children of GOD are going to die like men, interesting.

-      Psalm 89: 5-8 The LORD is faithful in the assembly of the holy ones. Who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the sons of GOD is like the LORD, a God (Elohim) greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, awesome above all who are around him? The ones described here are in the sky, in the assembly, ones who are set apart, they are not mere men or earthly judges they are heavenly beings.

-      In the book of Job, we catch a glimpse, inside the council chambers of one of many Devine council meetings. We are introduced to an adversarial son of GOD, Satan (the adversary, not a proper name) this may or may not be the Devil we are introduced to in the New Testament.

-      There are obviously many adversarial sons of GOD, their leader, the old serpent, the Devil spends a lot of time in the shadows letting others do the dirty work.

-      The prophet Micaiah, in the book of 1 kings 22: 19 – 23, has a vision of GOD telling the council that Ahab’s time is up and asks who can entice him into battle that he might die. A couple things of note here, one, GOD does not need their help, but GOD wants a family that are involved and active in the family business. Two, we do not hear anyone in the vision plead on Ahab’s behalf, yes, he is a wicked king, but could no one make an offer of mercy? What you do get to see is a spirit who will inspire all of Ahab’s prophets to speak lies. So, for that spirit it was its modus operandi. Was this a test for this one spirit and a punishment for Ahab? Dunno, but I find it very interesting.

-      King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in the book of Daniel 4:13-17

we get to read about a judgement that comes from a Devine counsel meeting, against the King, decreed by the watchers, commanded by the holy ones (not men).

-      Christ came lived and died to pay our debt and lives forever more, to set us free, to kick the Devil and the other adversarial sons of GOD out of the council, to purify the heavenly temple, to inherit the nations, to restart the Edenic vision and have the new children of GOD, sitting on the council, not as rulers but as servants like the example modeled to us by Christ our King, being all about the family business.

-      Things may look desperate at this present time because desperate rulers are desperately trying to hang on to their power and delay judgement, but take heart their time is short and as Paul wrote, I am sure that neither death or life, angels or rulers, things present, or things to come, powers, height or depth, anything in all of creation will be able to separate us from the love of GOD in Christ Jesus our Lord.
