He Who Laughs Last...

The Voice

The Voice

Psalm 29

1 A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.
3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf,
and Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;
the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare,
and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
11 May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!

Thoughts:

- twenty-nine, we are past 28 Psalms of 150 recorded and David is still finding reasons to sing to the LORD. Some of them were questioning pain, anger, the problems of evil, it can also be about love, joy, peace, and GOD's protection. Whatever the reason David doesn’t stop communicating with GOD.

- David is directing the heavenly beings to ascribe, to give to the LORD the glory and strength due to him, willingly. The spirits, we refer to them as angels, but that's a simplestic job title.  Some of the spirits are messangers, but some are not. It's what they do not who they are. We find throughout scripture that some of them guard sacred space like the tree of life and the tree of good and evil (this one failed intentionally), the holiest of holies. Some spirits are involved in governance, the twenty-four elders who sit on thrones. Some are given tasks of recording, watching, strengthening, being head over a division of GOD's army, case in point Michael one of the chief princes. Some work in the heavenly temple, Isaiah 6:6 and even some are worship leaders as seen by the four living creatures in Revelation 4:8.

- To worship him in his holiness is to recognize that he is set apart from even the "angels", the spirits. They are all elohim, but there is no spirit like Yᵊhōvâ. They were created, he has always been, he is the uncreated one.

GOD's voice, his word, Jesus is over :
   - water, he's more refreshing.
   - thunder, he is to be heard above everything.
   - Many waters, no matter how many there is there's no comparison to the one and only living water.
  GOD's voice, his word, Jesus:
- is Power and Majestic
- can break trees, like the cedars of Lebanon, a large evergreen conifer capable of reaching impressive heights and widths. Mature trees can grow to 40 meters (130 feet) tall with a trunk diameter of up to 2.5 meters (8 feet 2 inches).
- can make the earth move under Lebanon and mount Hermon. Like a bucking young wild ox.
- breathes fire and shakes places of the earth with pin point accuracy.
- can cause things like the Tunguska event.
- did cause the great deluge and he is on his throne for eternity.
- with the unfathomable, limitless power in the voice of the LORD, when he speaks blessings of peace over you, you will have peace, believe it!

My prayer, that we would experience the all-powerful voice of the LORD and live and worship in the peace of Christ.
